My Son Who Just Finished WAEC Was Hit By A Vehicle And The Vehicle Run Over His Body — Oladotun

WAEC

Apostle Eng. Ayodele Oladotun of the House of David Ministry has narrated a painful chapter of his life, detailing the events that led to the death of his first son following a road accident. He shared the account during an interview on the Talk To B Podcast, anchored by Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo, which aired on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Apostle Oladotun explained

In the interview, Apostle Oladotun explained that his family initially planned to travel to the United States. “We wanted to go to America with my wife, but my wife’s siblings in South Africa said we have to disverge our passport,” he said. According to him, the plan changed after his wife’s siblings advised a different destination. “Then she told us to come to South Africa,” he stated. He said he decided to stay back temporarily with their children. “I told my wife to move, that I will stay with the kids,” he said.

Writing his WAEC

Apostle Oladotun disclosed that he and his wife have four children. “We have four children, two boys and two girls,” he said. He explained that his first son was preparing for a major examination at the time. “My firstborn was writing his WAEC,” he stated. As a result, he traveled with only two of the children. “So I left with the two girls, leaving behind the other boys because they are friends,” he said.

South Africa

He noted that his stay in South Africa was brief. “You can only stay in South Africa for a month, so I came back to pick the boys,” he explained. He said timing became critical due to the examination schedule. “I came on Tuesday and he will finish on Thursday,” he said. The cleric recalled events on the day of the accident. “On Friday, I was going to see my staff who are working on site,” he stated.

Staying with relatives

He explained that his children were staying with relatives. “They were always with my mom,” he said. He recounted a conversation with his son that morning. “He said he wants to stay back so that he could rest,” Oladotun said. He added, “So I don’t agree to things like this, but I don’t know why I agreed.”

Home urgently

He said he was still with his mother when he received a distress call. “I was still there when I received a call,” he said. According to him, the caller insisted he return home urgently. “They said they needed me to come back home,” he stated. He initially assumed it was a technical issue. “I used to help them to repair the transformer when it’s faulty as an engineer,” he said.

Staircase seems

The situation soon changed. “Then they said to me that a vehicle hit and run over Ayomide which is my firstborn who just finished his WAEC,” he said. He described his shock at the moment. “Immediately I had that, the staircase seems like a very long journey to me,” he said.

Accident happened around

He explained that his son was taken to multiple hospitals. “The accident happened around 10 a.m. in the morning,” he said. He added, “We got to Ikeja hospital around 6 p.m. in the evening.” He recalled the final moment at the hospital. “When I entered, the boy was dead,” he said.
