Trump Doubles Down on the Force used by ICE: Protesters Have to Suffer

Air Force One — In an unprecedented act of rhetorical hyperbole that has rocked the Twin Cities and the rest of the country, President Donald Trump has delivered a spooky threat to the protesters of his colossal immigration crackdown. On a Saturday, January 31, 2026, the President reiterated the use of very serious force stating that the protesters that attack federal agents will have to suffer.

The comments are delivered during the period of unprecedented civil unrest in Minnesota. In the wake of the deadly shootings of two U.S. citizens by federal officials in January Renee Good and Alex Pretti, thousands of people have been protesting in the streets to condemn Operation Metro Surge, the biggest deployment of the federal police in U.S. history.

Equal or Greater Consequence: Trump Warning on Air Force one.

When the President visited West Palm Beach, Florida, he was requested to clarify a set of aggressive posts on the Truth Social. Trump was categorical when asked about his words on the protesters being met with equal consequences or worse. Well if they do anything bad to our people then they will have to suffer. I’m sorry. Once they begin spitting people in the face, punching our people, punching our soldiers, our patriots, they will be dealt with evenly.

Trump cited property damage in particular as an incident that may create very serious force, by saying that should protesters set bricks on their very expensive cars, the federal government would respond with extreme speed and ferocity. He called federal agents Patriot Warriors and ignored protestors as highly paid Lunatics, Agitators, and Insurrectionists.

Change in Strategy: Do Not Interfere in Democrat Cities.

During a unexpected maneuver, Trump said that he has ordered Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to not intervene in protests in the so-called Poorest-run Democrat Cities, unless local authorities specifically request assistance and say please.

• Federal Buildings Only: Federal agents will no longer do any general riot guard in such cities but will have a strong presence protecting federal property in a very powerful manner.

• Political Retaliation? Opponents believe that the action is meant to allow unrest in Democratic-strongholds to increase so as to enhance a campaign narrative of law and order.

• The “Surge” Continues: The President instructed ICE and Border Patrol to be very forceful in the core of their missions and in safeguarding federal property, even though it was made clear that the phrase will have a more moderate sound in reference to the urban streets.

Is Metro Surge Operation Legal?

The administration justifies the operation as a measure that was necessary to counter immigration fraud. Nevertheless, it has been noted that out of the 3,000 arrests conducted in the Twin Cities, few have been connected to the fraud cases used as the reason to justify the operation. This has created accusations of racial profiling and ethnic cleansing strategies.

What’s Next for Minnesota?

The situations in Minneapolis are on the brink of a breaking point because the National Guard is ready and the federal agents have permission to apply serious force. The Tim Walz governor has requested the end of the federal presence, but the Trump administration does not indicate any withdrawal.

How about the new statements made by the President?
