Intimidate
According to Vanguard, Nyesom Wike, a key yet often controversial personality within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), spoke candidly about his priorities, making it clear that his political attention is firmly fixed on safeguarding the party’s interests.
While restating his loyalty to the PDP’s success at the national level, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory openly acknowledged that he is closely monitoring developments within the Oyo State chapter of the party.
Factional Ambitions
In forthright remarks, Wike left little room for ambiguity about where he stands. He stressed that his involvement is driven purely by concern for the party’s wellbeing and long-term relevance, rather than personal or factional ambitions.
“Let me declare my interest clearly: I am interested in the survival and success of this party. I am also interested in all the happenings in Oyo State PDP. That is all I am interested in,” Wike said.

Former Rivers
The former Rivers State governor further emphasized that his central concern remains the “survival, stability and success” of the PDP.He dismissed suggestions that recent court victories had emboldened rival factions to intimidate or pressure party members aligned with his position.
Lingering Leadership Dispute
According to Wike, such tactics would have no effect on leaders who remain resolute and confident in their convictions.Turning to the lingering leadership dispute within the party, Wike asserted that opposition to the current Caretaker Committee no longer holds any legal weight.
Committee’s Authority
He argued that the outcome of the legal battles surrounding the issue has effectively settled the matter, leaving dissenting groups without a legitimate basis to challenge the committee’s authority.Wike also lashed out at individuals he accused of attempting to dominate the party structure nationwide.
Vampires
He described these actors as “vampires” seeking undue control over PDP affairs across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.“Who will intimidate us to the end? Some of us, by the grace of God, do not see what anyone can threaten us with. The legal battle has collapsed. They have no option but to recognise the Caretaker Committee,” he stated.
His comments underline the deep internal divisions within the PDP, while also signaling his determination to confront opposition and assert his influence as the party navigates ongoing challenges.
